How to travel more in retirement

Travelling in retirement is a fabulous relaxation

For a lot of people, retirement is the dream. Working hard for years and years and years can feel really hard at the time, but when you get to retire, it all feels worth it. Especially when we’re talking about early retirement. Because you get to start enjoying your days so much more, and all of your time is your own. You finally get to do all of the things that you always planned to, but you never got around to because work, and life in general, was just too busy. And this can often be the case when it comes to travel. Because, you may always say that you want to visit this place or go to that country, but you don’t always have the time off to do it. But now that you’re enjoying your retirement fun, you can definitely look to travel more. And here’s how.

Write A Bucket List

First of all, you might want to think about writing up a bit of a bucket list for yourself. Because if you’re always wishing that you could go here and there, it’s time to actually plan that out. There are plenty of must-visit destinations in the USA, Canada, South America, Asia, and even all around Europe. So start to think about where you might like to go, and get planning to visit them.

Look Out For Deals

If you’re worried about the cost of travel, then one thing that you can do is try to look out for deals. If you sign up to travel company newsletters, enter competitions, and just check back on different sites every now and again, you may find that there are really great deals on some of the places that you want to go that you should definitely snap up.

Find Offers

But at the same time, you should also look at places like cashback sites or voucher websites that might promote great deals on travel. It could be for flights or hotels or even day trips. So let’s take a look at them next.

Plan Day Trips

From here, you’re going to want to also think about any day trips that you can take. Or even short staycations around the UK. There are plenty of lovely days out all around the country that you could look to plan with friends or family. Travel doesn’t have to be expensive, or abroad. Instead, you can look to travel around the UK and have fun at different locations and attractions here too.

Save For One Big Trip Each Year

And then, to make sure that you do actually get to travel to somewhere really special each year, you’re going to want to make sure that you put some money away. This could be a set amount each month that you move into a holiday fund savings account. That way, you know that each year you have a set sum to work with ready to book a last minute holiday with, or for the trip to booked now for next year.

This is certainly what we do, I have one savings account that I allocate a set amount to every month to pay for our 1 big trip, currently I’m saving for our next cruise holiday.
