I love a good curry, in fact it’s probably my favourite cuisine. In National Curry week I feel I must dedicate one of my #Blogtober18 posts to this.
The title is Vindaloo or Korma? My favourite is neither of these. However if I had to choose between the two it would be Vindaloo. I like a hot spicy curry most of the time but there are occasions when I like something mild like a Korma. That’s the beauty of curries – there is one to suit every mood!
My 3 favourites are, in no particular order:
Chicken Tikka Samber: I love the taste and texture of this curry, it contains lentils and has a fabulous spicy taste.
Chicken Tikka Saag – I love the depth of flavour that the spinach adds to this dish.
Chicken Tikka Biryani – I know that this is not usually a spicy curry but I love rice and this is a rice based dish with a thin omelette on top.
I can cook a mean curry from scratch and there is nothing more satisfying than doing so, but we mostly eat currys in restaurants or from takeaways. Wherever I source my curry from no curry for me is complete without Poppadums. I absolutely love them especially accompanied with onion relish and mango chutney. I also save a bit and crumble it over the top of my curry. This is a practice my mum picked up when she lived in the Middle East before I was born. I’ve yet to meet another person who does this!
Are you a curry lover? If so which is your favourite? and do you have a favourite accompaniment too?
