Today I’m posting about a recent trip to view the illuminations in Blackpool. My childhood holidays and short breaks when I first met Mr Fitz were spent in Blackpool.
The town has had some lean years where it has not been a very desirable place to visit. We have preferred to visit the Lake District instead, however over the past couple of years we have begun to visit again for a nice day out for a bracing walk along the prom, which has undergone a multi million pound transformation on the sea front.
Friends of ours have a holiday caravan locally so recently we accepted an invite to stay with them and visit the illuminations. I was intrigued to see how different if at all they were from how I remembered them from childhood.
It was almost like stepping back in time! The tableaus were different but the overall experience was the same. It was great to see families walking along eating candy floss and chips. There have been some obvious changes and the 2 that struck me most was how the tower itself is illuminated with ever changing colours and by the merchants selling neon lights for children from glow sticks to wands.
I’ve included a few images for you but they’re not my best work!

This was a lovely step back in time for me too. My husband and I used to go when we first got together. £35 for a Monday-Friday break BBEM haha!
I’m glad it brought back pleasant memories Hazel. Yes those were the days when prices were that low and the resort was thriving
